Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how KinderCloset LLC (“KinderCloset,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use the KinderCloset website, account features, wardrobe tools, and related services (the “Service”).
The Service is designed for parents, legal guardians, and other adult caregivers. It is not designed for children to use independently.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your username or email address, or, if you choose Apple, Google, or Facebook sign-in, your email address and basic profile information made available for authentication; account identifiers; authentication information needed to secure your account; and a record of your confirmation that you meet the minimum account age and are authorized to provide child information.
- Child profile information: a child’s name, birth month and year, selected gender, fit profile, clothing preferences, budget preferences, shoe size, and style preferences.
- Wardrobe and activity information: saved capsules, recommended sizes, selected or swapped items, product feedback, and interactions with wardrobe recommendations.
- Communications: information you include when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting, authentication, and security providers may automatically process information such as IP address, browser and device type, request timestamps, referring pages, session identifiers, and security or diagnostic logs. We use this information to deliver and protect the Service, maintain sessions, and troubleshoot problems.
Passwords and authentication
Our authentication provider handles and securely hashes passwords. KinderCloset does not receive or store a readable copy. If you choose Apple, Google, or Facebook sign-in, that provider authenticates you and provides Supabase with the account information needed to create or access your KinderCloset account.
Public preview
If you build a wardrobe preview before signing in, your answers are stored in an encrypted, HttpOnly browser cookie for up to one hour so the preview can follow you through sign-up. The preview is not attached to an account unless you continue and sign in or create one.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create and secure accounts and complete authentication;
- generate, personalize, save, and update wardrobe plans;
- recommend sizes and plan for a child’s growth and seasons;
- remember preferences and improve recommendation quality;
- operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and protect the Service;
- respond to questions and privacy requests; and
- comply with law and enforce our agreements.
How we disclose information
We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not sell or share child profile information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers: vendors that host the Service, store data, authenticate users, deliver communications, monitor security, or otherwise process information on our behalf. These include our hosting provider, Supabase, Apple when you choose Apple sign-in, Google when you choose Google sign-in, and Meta when you choose Facebook sign-in.
- Retailer and affiliate links: when you click an external product link, the retailer or affiliate network receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address, browser details, and referring page, subject to its own privacy policy. We may earn a commission from qualifying activity. We do not send your child’s profile to the retailer.
- Legal and safety reasons: when we reasonably believe disclosure is needed to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect people, investigate abuse or fraud, or secure the Service.
- Business changes: in connection with a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
- At your direction: when you ask or authorize us to share information.
We do not publicly display child profiles.
Children’s privacy
KinderCloset helps adults plan clothing for children, but the Service and its accounts are intended for parents, legal guardians, and other adult caregivers. Children may not create an account or submit information to us on their own. Child profile information must be entered and managed by an adult responsible for that child.
We limit child profile fields to information used for sizing, seasonal planning, and wardrobe personalization. We do not ask for a child’s full birth date, home address, school, photograph, precise location, or contact information, and we do not make child profiles public.
If you believe a child submitted personal information directly to KinderCloset without appropriate adult involvement, email info@kindercloset.co. A parent or legal guardian may also ask to review, correct, or delete a child profile. We will verify the requester’s relationship to the relevant account before acting.
Data retention
Public preview information expires after up to one hour. We generally keep account, child profile, wardrobe, and preference information while the account remains active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain some information longer when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or enforcing our agreements.
When information is deleted, limited copies may remain temporarily in protected backups or logs until those systems cycle, unless a longer period is legally required.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include encrypted network connections, access controls, protected account sessions, and service providers designed for secure authentication and storage. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a unique password and protect access to your devices.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to provide access to, correct, delete, or provide a copy of personal information associated with your account. You may also ask us to close your account or stop using certain optional profile information. Parents and legal guardians may request review, correction, or deletion of a child profile connected to their account.
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, privacy law may provide additional rights. For California residents, these may include rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service when exercising privacy rights. KinderCloset does not currently sell or share personal information as those terms are used for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of at this time.
To make a request, email info@kindercloset.co with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may ask you to provide information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and identify the relevant records. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization and identity. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Third-party links and services
The Service may link to retailers and other websites that KinderCloset does not control. Their privacy practices apply after you leave our Service. We encourage you to review their policies before providing information or making a purchase.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
